La Paz

Okay, we're finally up-to-date:

Our time in La Paz has been very rich.  On three different days we had the opportunity to visit a couple of different Methodist high schools and speak to multiple classes about Biblical principles and our experiences with Christ.  Elizabeth also presented material at a Methodist pastors’ meeting concerning ministering in times of crisis.  We spent the weekend in Cochabamba at a youth conference where we all helped present on evangelism and positively influencing our society as Christians.  We also worked with the youth groups of a couple of churches in La Paz and had the opportunity to get to know them.

We have really enjoyed getting to know the Bolivian believers.  They have been very generous, humble, and loving toward us.  It’s been a pleasure spending time with them!

We are hoping to leave to return to Medellin this evening, but there are miners’ protests blocking the main highway from Bolivia into Peru.  Apparently they’ve laid barbed wire across the highway in Peru, and there are some trucks that have already been waiting for five days to cross.  We are currently looking at going into Chile and crossing the Peruvian border from Chile.  Please pray that God gets us through (or around) the blockades and that we can get back to Medellin safely and without problems.

Por fin tenemos el blog actualizado!

Nuestro tiempo en La Paz ha sido de mucha bendición.  La semana pasada tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar a un par de colegios Metodistas para compartir con varias clases de jóvenes sobre principios bíblicos y nuestras experiencias con Jesús.  También, Elizabeth dio una presentación en una reunión de pastores sobre servir y ministrar en tiempos de crisis.  Pasamos el fin de semana en Cochabamba participando en una conferencia de jóvenes Metodistas de todo el país.  Todos ayudamos con presentar sobre evangelismo y influenciar positivamente a nuestra sociedad como cristianos.  También trabajamos con los jóvenes de varias iglesias en La Paz y disfrutamos de la oportunidad de conocerlos.

Hemos disfrutado mucho de conocer los creyentes bolivianos.  Son muy generosos, humildes, y amigables.  Ha sido un placer pasar tiempo con ellos!

Queremos salir esta noche para volver a Medellín, pero hay protestas de mineros que han bloqueado la carretera de Bolivia a Peru.  Han puesto alambre de púas en la carretera, y hay camiones que llevan hasta cinco días esperando en el paro.  Estamos buscando una manera de pasar por Chile y cruzar la frontera de Peru por medio de Chile en vez de Bolivia.  Por favor, ora que Dios nos ayude a pasar la frontera y las carreteras hasta Lima y que podamos llegar a Medellín con seguridad y sin problemas.
